5 stars in the Bastille district
Presentation
Practical information
A historic journey into industrial elegance.
With its high facade covered in ochre ceramic, highlighted by a mosaic frieze, the Maison Boutet tells the story of an industrial place once typical of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine area, between Bastille and Nation. A wood manufacturing factory founded in 1926 for an importer specializing in exotic woods, the building later became a chocolate factory under the Suisse Normande brand, located at 24 rue Faidherbe for nearly forty years. It is said that in 1983, to extract the five enormous mixing tanks, an opening had to be made on the second floor. After a period of being occupied by RATP engineering offices — a rare opportunity for engineers! — the building embarked on a new life in 2015.
Today, it is a five-star hotel that inhabits these walls, an establishment where the industrial history has not been erased but patiently reinterpreted. The Paris Bastille Boutet 5* offers 80 rooms and suites, each unique, featuring solid wood floors, full-grain leather headboards, soft fabrics, and custom-made furniture. The raw materials, clean lines, and nods to craftsmanship evoke the heritage of the neighborhood's artisans without nostalgia.
At the heart of the building, the staircase made of cast-in-place concrete impresses with its fluid silhouette and sculptural anchoring. A centerpiece of the project, it embodies the meeting of artisanal know-how and contemporary demands. In the basement, the spa's pool is revealed in a blue and white setting: mosaics, soft lighting, mirrored ceiling... A space as graphic as it is relaxing.
Special mention goes to two of the establishment's four suites, whose layout was entrusted to final-year students from the École Boulle. This symbolic partnership highlights how the place continues to foster dialogue between creation, transmission, and understated excellence.
