A night under the stars
Presentation
Practical information
Spot for a minimalist and conceptual stay or a LandArt hotel?
Remember, in 2008, in a nuclear bunker in the village of Sevelen (St. Gallen), the first Null Stern Hotel opened. In 2016, brothers Frank and Patrik Riklin and Swiss hotelier Daniel Charbonnier took their concept further: zero real estate, but thousands of stars in the sky.
Thousands of stars plus one: us.
« Null Stern - the only star is you »
With the only limits being the panoramas of Swiss valleys, this trio pushed their project even further. The Swiss landscapes became imaginary rooms, making Switzerland the world's first "hotel country."
In 2016, this extraordinary hotel season opened in the silence and timelessness of the isolated, wild, and precious Safien Valley (Grisons), between hay barns and alpine huts on its steep slopes.
Another valley and equally majestic setting for the 2017 edition, where the « Null Stern Bed » was set atop Göbsi (1200m altitude) with breathtaking views of the Alpstein mountain massif. At the border of the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden (AI) and Appenzell Ausserrhoden (AR), this authentic place is not one to stumble upon by chance, located about 2 km from the village of Gonten.
To operate this unique room, a modern butler club gets involved: valley residents, municipal employees, and farmers from neighboring hamlets, all wearing white gloves, welcome their guests at Gonten station and bring them coffee upon waking.
Season 2018, Zero Real Estate is the new code name for this season, this time at the top of the Toggenburg pastures, a postcard-perfect region in the canton of St. Gallen (eastern Switzerland).
Summer 2020
With mountains and lakes as a backdrop, seven suites were set up in eastern Switzerland - Hohlenstein Suite in Fischingen (Thurgau Bodensee), Pinot Suite in Trasadingen (Schaffhauserland), Ruebet Suite in Thal (Region St. Gallen-Bodensee), Burst Suite (Ferienregion Toggenburg), Säntis Suite (Appenzellerland), Lüsis Suite (Ferienregion Heidiland) - and in Liechtenstein (Fürstensuite in Esche).
Summer 2021 took a break, looking forward to 2022 to discover the selected spots for staying under the stars!
Did you know?
Appenzell Innerrhoden was the last Swiss canton to grant women the right to vote (and eligibility) at the federal and cantonal levels. This not-so-distant date was April 28, 1991. Before that, only men armed with their swords would gather on the last Sunday of April at the "Landsgemeindeplatz," the central square of Appenzell, to vote publicly and by a show of hands.
