Unusual chalets in Commeire (Valais)
Presentation
Practical information
Return to basics, share positive emotions in a natural and authentic environment in Valais: between luxury and traditions in the hamlet of Commeire
In Switzerland, above Orsières, the hamlet of Commeire seems to have remained unchanged for 100 years. Here, the calm is absolute, and the beauty of the mountains is breathtaking.
This small hamlet perched at 1400 m altitude is being revived thanks to an innovative approach to tourism developed by Montagne Alternative. Their charter expresses it as follows: contributing to a better world by fostering their guests' reconnection with the essentials, calm, and nature.
In 2002, Ludovic Orts, one of the two founders and partners of Montagne Alternative, discovered Commeire during a ski tour and immediately fell in love. It took time, reflection, and the agreement of the village inhabitants to bring this hamlet preservation project to fruition.
These mazots, century-old barns that were gradually abandoned, were envisioned by Ludovic Orts and Benoît Greindl to be rehabilitated into contemporary and timeless living spaces in the heart of a preserved hamlet.
The interior decoration is minimalist, refined, blending new wood with reclaimed old wood from the area. The materials are beautiful, your comfort is a priority, the lighting is carefully designed, and above all, the windows frame the mountain like paintings.
You won’t find any shops or restaurants here, just silence and nature: ski touring, snowshoeing, cycling, the activities are in harmony with the environment and local traditions.
The reception is personal, the hotel services (transfers, grocery delivery, private chef, etc.) are à la carte; everything here is absolutely perfect.
✯ Spring, summer, autumn, winter, the hamlet is open all year round, 1 hour from Lausanne ✯
