An old convent turned into a hotel
Presentation
Practical information
The luxury within reach of the hill in a former convent.
The people of Lyon owe the architect Pierre Bossan the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière, but also the Convent of the Visitation located on the same hill. After extensive renovations, this mid-19th-century building with perfect symmetry houses a luxurious and tranquil hotel.
The Fourvière hill is emblematic of Lyon's history. In ancient times, it was the center of Lugdunum. In the 19th century, the people of Lyon erected the famous basilica, which has since been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, it is home to a temple of luxury, the Fourvière Hotel Spa 4*. Formerly the Convent of the Visitation, the splendid brick-and-limestone building has become an ode to hedonism.
Delights of Lyon's gastronomy, offering here its two faces: Le Bouchon serves traditional local dishes, while the restaurant Les Téléphones takes a more modern bistronomic approach. Delights of the surroundings: scattered throughout the hotel, artworks by Pablo Reinoso guide visitors to the spacious, air-conditioned rooms. Delights of the senses, finally: the wellness area includes a lap pool, a hammam, a spa, and an ice fountain.
Gallo-Roman theater, ancient remains… the splendors of the former capital of Gaul are just steps away. From the Garden of Curiosities, one can admire the view of the city and the Rhône-Saône confluence before heading down to Old Lyon to discover its famous traboules.
