A night in a former post office turned boutique hotel
Presentation
Practical information
The postal elegance between the Graslei and the Korenmarkt, just a few meters from the Christmas market.
The story of the 1898 The Post hotel begins at the very end of the 19th century, in the city of Ghent, Belgium. In 1898, architect Louis Cloquet brought to life an imposing neo-Gothic style building, designed to house the city's new central post office.
Situated between Ghent's historic quays and the Grain Market, this 4* occupies the city's former central post office, a neo-Gothic architectural gem conceived at the end of the 19th century by Louis Cloquet.
Carefully transformed by the Zannier Hotels group, this historical building has been redesigned to host 38 rooms and suites, where old woodwork, period furniture, and marble combine in understated elegance. Every detail tells a story, from the room names inspired by the postal world to the windows opening onto Flemish rooftops. A place that is both spectacular and intimate, where the presence of the past can still be felt.
In the morning, head to The Kitchen for breakfast. Cozy fireplace, large wooden table, generous buffet, and local products: it's simple, it feels like home, only better. In the afternoon, return for a pastry or a coffee break, watching the comings and goings of passersby through the large windows.
For the evenings, don't miss the Cobbler (a specific type of shaker), the cocktail bar; settled into a velvet sofa, enjoy bespoke creations in an ultra-chic setting.
Between heritage and contemporary comfort, everything invites you to experience a timeless moment. 1898 The Post is more than just a beautiful hotel: it's a rare address that breathes new life into a Ghent monument while cultivating a refined and understated way of life. The perfect escape for a romantic weekend or a chic getaway with friends.
